2009 sees the 50th anniversary of arguably the most remarkable League Title victory of all time, when Burnley became the club from the smallest town ever to lift the famous old trophy. Beating off competition from the likes of Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Wolves, Harry Potts’s homegrown team won the championship playing exciting, fluid football, scoring goals and entertaining fans.
It seemed all very much in a day’s work for the team, but this book reveals the degree to which life as a footballer has changed in the intervening half century. Surely this feat could never happen now, could it?
Never Had It So Good looks back on a bygone era and applauds the achievement of Burnley in pulling off this most amazing of triumphs.
* The incredible true story of the smallest football club ever to win the Football League title.
* Featuring exclusive interviews with eight surviving members of the team, plus many supporters.
